I started this whole site to showcase a portfolio. Yet what I've learned over the past months is that it usually takes a lifetime to compile one's best images. So now I'm in no hurry to display my mediocre work. And not only that, one of my real goals was to show the different neighborhood of LA, especially the one's that are usually overlooked because they're either not glamorous or not run-down enough. So starting today, I'll be creating blogs with a collection of photos from the various neighborhoods I visit. The common theme I am aiming for is that my photos show something that one could either say "that's definitely in Koreatown", "that's only in Koreatown" or "I didn't know that was in Koreatown".
Another thing that I'd like to share is that I would really like to travel someday. Not to some vacation destination but to streets that are most often neglected due to their simplicity or similarity to almost anywhere in the world. By the words of Eric Kim street photographer,I want to find "the beauty in the mundane". It may be a challenge for now but so far I don't want to go far but rather I want to photograph within. Think of it as an X-ray of LA. I'll walk the blood stream of the streets and ride the nerve cells of public transportation. All the while taking pictures of moments that reveal the character of the place I'm at.
Lastly, I think this will definitely help me find my voice as a street photographer. I feel like the more I go out to different places, the better I develop my eye for what I exactly want out of my photography.
